Date 14/06/2002
Trade at the 12 Arab stock markets covered by the Arab Monetary Fund
surged by 50 per cent to USD12.8bn in the first quarter, reported the latest
AMF bulletin. Turnover in Saudi Arabia was up the most, and 80 per cent
higher. These figures seem to show that Arab money is being invested in
Arabia, and may indicate a repatriation of funds from overseas in the wake of
September 11.
