At this meeting, key stakeholders from the Vancouver area will discuss issues of importance to the securities industry and the Canadian economy. A strong and robust securities industry has far reaching effects in BC's communities, including providing a strong natural resource sector, jobs in technology related industries and new discoveries in life sciences.
For TSX and TSX Venture, Vancouver is also important as a pipeline for new listings to our marketplaces.
There are 133 Vancouver based companies listed on Toronto Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of just over $95 billion. On TSX Venture Exchange, 805 issuers are from Vancouver.
The Town Hall will provide the audience the opportunity to discuss some of the key issues in the Canadian securities industry. How do we capitalize on our strengths? Where will the industry go in the next few years? Where do we want to take the industry? How do we remove obstacles for growth?
