Tokyo Stock Exchange: Trading Overview In June 2013

Date 01/07/2013

This report contains trading conditions of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in June 2013.

Highlights

(1) Equity Market

[Equities]
-Speculation over a tapering of US quantitative easing and declines in the Chinese stock market left
investors in an observational stance and market conditions weakened. However, investor sentiment
was restored by the end of the month due to high prices for US stocks and the weakened yen. TOPIX
fell for the second consecutive month, to close 0.2% lower than the previous month.
-Daily average trading value fell slightly due to market uncertainty in the latter half of the month, but
remained at high levels.

[ETF/ETN]
-"SPDR Gold Shares (Code:1326)" and "Japan Physical Gold ETF (Code: 1540)" experienced large
declines due to sharp drops in the gold futures market. Daily average trading value fell 22% from the
previous month due to weaker conditions in the stock market.

[REIT]
-Investors reacted poorly to rising long-term interest rates in the US and Japan, causing the TSE
REIT Index to decline. Toward the end of the month, affordable prices led to rapid repurchasing, leading
to gains for the third consecutive month, and a 2.1% increase on the previous month.
