Tokyo Stock Exchange: TOPIX Dissemination Interval Change

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) announced today that it will change the dissemination interval of TOPIX and its sub-indices to every fifteen seconds starting in April 2005.^* The indices are currently disseminated once a minute to securities companies, information vendors, and others through TSE’s Market Information System (MAINS).

TOPIX and its sub-indices are widely used as indicators that accurately express movement in the Tokyo stock market. This change is aimed to reflect market movements in a timelier manner and thereby enhance the function of the indices as such indicators.
