TSE has compiled the statistics on dates of Annual General Shareholders Meetings for companies which settle accounts in March 2014. A summary of the statistics is as below.
Summary
-Every year, the highest concentration of annual general shareholders meetings of companies which settle accounts in March occurs on "the business day before the last business day of June" (If this day falls on Monday, this occurs on the Friday of the previous week). This year, 918 (38.7%) out of 2,375 companies included in the statistics are scheduled to hold their annual general shareholders meetings on June 27 (Fri.) which is "the business day before the last business day of June".
- The concentration rate on this day fell by 3.3 points from last year. After peaking at 96.2% for FY1994, the rate has gradually declined, and in recent years has hovered between 40% and 50%. FY2013 marks the first time it has fallen below 40% since TSE began compiling statistics.
- The earliest annual general shareholders meetings of companies whose fiscal years end on March 31 were held on May 30 by Scroll Corporation (1st Section) and SPARX Group Co., Ltd. (JASDAQ), followed by AMIYAKI TEI CO.,LTD. (1st Section) and YOROZU CORPORATION (1st Section) on June 11.
For companies whose fiscal years end on other dates in March, the earliest meetings were held on June 6 by SUPER TOOL CO.,LTD. (JASDAQ, Mar. 15 FY-end) and on June 10 by CAWACHI LIMITED (1st Section, Mar. 15 FY-end).
- The concentration rates on June 27 by market division are 1st Section 38.2%, 2nd Section 49.1%, Mothers 12.7% and JASDAQ 35.3%.
In order to create an environment which further facilitates the exercise of voting rights at annual general shareholders meetings, TSE requests listed companies to make efforts to spread out their annual general shareholders meetings (Rule 437, Item 1 of the Enforcement Rules for Securities Listing Regulations). TSE will continue to encourage listed companies to cooperate in further improving the environment for exercising voting rights, including spreading out their annual general shareholders meetings.
