Date 30/11/2000

Tokyo Stock Exchange today receives an award from the National Police Agency, in recognition of its concerted efforts to prevent organised crime from entering the securities market.

Tokyo Stock Exchange has been actively collaborating with the police authorities since April this year to bar organised crime from the securities market. Initiatives include the creation of a close cooperative relationship to allow an ongoing exchange of information, and the joint organisation of seminars (December 2000 and January 2001) aimed at companies and securities industry participants.

Tokyo Stock Exchange is determined to step up collaborative efforts with the police authorities and the securities industry to protect the securities market from organised crime.
