The Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) is
pleased to announce that it has designated BNP Paribas Securities (Japan)
Limited (hereafter “BNP Paribas Securities”) as an Index Futures Trading
Supporter for dividend index futures as of June 18, 2010.
BNP Paribas Securities will offer bid and ask quotations to increase liquidity
mainly in the TSE dividend index futures market and also trade mini-TOPIX
futures and TOPIX Core30 futures contracts. The TSE hopes that this will improve
liquidity in the TSE derivatives market.
BNP Paribas Securities is part of the BNP Paribas Group. BNP Paribas was formed in 2000 through the merger of the Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas, with the former’s history reaching back to 1848. BNP Paribas is a global banking and financial services group spanning over 80 countries and regions. While the TSE will be listing dividend index futures contracts in the near future, the BNP Paribas already commands the largest share of the European dividend index futures market. It is also the market leader for dividend index transactions in Japan’s over-the-counter market.
The TSE expects that BNP Paribas Securities active involvement as an Index Futures Trading Supporter for dividend index futures will greatly contribute to the expansion and globalization of the dividend index futures market.
* Please note that BNP Paribas Securities intends to conduct transactions only
with institutional investors.
