1. TOPIX Style Index Series
The Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc.(TSE) today has announced starting November 26, 2008*, the TSE will begin a tentative calculation to calculate its new “TOPIX Style Index Series” which will be based on the TOPIX indices, a widely used benchmark for Japanese stocks.
Through the tentative calculation, the TSE will calculate TOPIX value and growth indices, as well as the value and growth indices TOPIX 500 and TOPIX Small, which are composed of issues selected according to free float adjusted market capitalization and liquidity. To distinguish between value and growth, the TSE will use actual PBRs (consolidated basis) (widely used as investment indicator for evaluating undervalued or growth stocks). The TSE will also consider part of PER forecast when making selections.
