Tokyo Stock Exchange And Australian Stock Exchange Sign An Agreement On Mutual Cooperation

On 8 August 2000, Tokyo Stock Exchange and Australian Stock Exchange signed an Agreement on Mutual Cooperation outlining the framework for a collaborative partnership. Cooperation between the two Exchanges will contribute to the development and orderly, efficient operation of their markets, and investor protection, as well as the development of capital markets in Asia-Pacific region.

The Exchanges agree to make efforts to (1) exchange information relevant to market development, supervision and harmonisation of the two markets; and (2) to cooperate in good faith on matters of concern to both Exchanges in the interests of maintaining sound, safe markets, and for the further strengthening of market function.

Mr Masaaki Tsuchida, President & CEO of Tokyo Stock Exchange, comments 'This Agreement is an opportunity to further strengthen the already good relations between our Exchanges, and to work for the development of both markets.'
