TMX Group today announced its financing activity on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange for May 2010.
Listing activity on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange was strong during May 2010. There were 19 new listings on Toronto Stock Exchange, including 14 initial public offerings (IPOs). On a year-to-date basis, the number of IPOs on Toronto Stock Exchange is 307% higher than the same period in 2009. TSX Venture Exchange welcomed 20 new listings, 15 of which were IPOs.
There was a 57% increase in total financings raised on Toronto Stock Exchange in May 2010 compared to May 2009. Total financings were also dramatically improved on TSX Venture Exchange compared to the prior year; $728.3 million in growth capital was raised by issuers in May 2010, representing a 300% increase over May 2009.
Four companies graduated from TSX Venture Exchange to Toronto Stock Exchange in May 2010, bringing the total for 2010 to 15. This represented a substantial improvement over the same period in 2009 when there were just four graduates.
