TMX Group – Equity Financing Statistics April 2010 Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange

TMX Group today announced its financing activity on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange for April 2010.

Each exchange welcomed 12 new issuers during April 2010. The number of new issuers on both exchanges has dramatically increased year to date in 2010 compared to the same period in 2009; there were 61 new issuers on Toronto Stock Exchange and 50 new issuers on TSX Venture Exchange as at April 30, 2010. 43 of the new issuers on Toronto Stock Exchange in 2010 were initial public offerings (IPOs), which represents a 258% gain over 2009. The dollar value of the 2010 IPOs was approximately seven times more than that of the IPOs during the same period in 2009.

Total financings on TSX Venture Exchange continued to be very robust in April 2010, both compared to March 2010 and April 2009. Total financings on TSX Venture Exchange for the first four months of 2010 were approximately $2.5 billion, representing a 262% increase over the same period in 2009.
