TMX Group Limited today announced September 2014 trading statistics for its marketplaces - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and NGX.

Total TMX equities trading volume in September 2014 increased 18% compared to the previous month, and increased 7% compared to the same month a year earlier. Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in September 2014 increased 26% compared to the previous month, and increased 7% compared to September 2013. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange increased 4% in September 2014 compared to the previous month, and increased 7% compared to September 2013. Trading volume on TMX Select in September 2014 increased 9% compared to the previous month, and increased 51% compared to September 2013. Alpha trading volume in September 2014 increased 24% compared to the previous month, and increased 3% compared to the same month a year earlier.

In September 2014, volume on MX increased 17% compared to the previous month, and increased 9% compared to the same month a year earlier. The level of open interest contracts at the end of September 2014 decreased 3% compared to the end of August 2014, but increased 7% compared to the end of September 2013.

Volume on NGX in September 2014 increased 22% compared to August 2014, but decreased 6% compared to September 2013.
