TMX Group Limited today announced October 2014 trading statistics for its marketplaces - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and NGX.
Total TMX equities trading volume in October 2014 increased 14% compared to the previous month, and increased 13% compared to the same month a year earlier. Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in October 2014 increased 19% compared to the previous month, and increased 20% compared to October 2013. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange decreased 2% in October 2014 compared to the previous month, and decreased 8% compared to October 2013. Trading volume on TMX Select in October 2014 increased 21% compared to the previous month, and increased 74% compared to October 2013. Alpha trading volume in October 2014 increased 25% compared to the previous month, and increased 18% compared to the same month a year earlier.
In October 2014, volume on MX increased 13% compared to the previous month, and increased 30% compared to the same month a year earlier. The level of open interest contracts at the end of October 2014 increased 4% compared to the end of September 2014, and increased 11% compared to the end of October 2013.
Volume on NGX in October 2014 increased 13% compared to the previous month, but decreased 8% compared to October 2013.
