TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics May 2010

TMX Group Inc. today announced May 2010 consolidated trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).

Highlights

Toronto Stock Exchange experienced a significant year-over-year increase in number of transactions in May 2010. TSX set an all time transaction record with 1,609,707 trades on May 6, 2010, which broke the previous record of 1,490,612 trades set on September, 18, 2008. There was also a record number of trading orders processed on TSX on May 20, 2010 with 100,950,306 orders processed, surpassing the previous record of 83,267,948 set on May 7, 2010.

May 2010 was another strong month for TSX Venture Exchange. Compared to 2009, volume, value and transactions for the month were up 27.4%, 92.8% and 72.4% respectively, and 74.8%, 231.8% and 127.3% respectively on a year-to-date basis.

Montreal Exchange set a new record for monthly average daily volume; the average daily volume traded for May 2010 was 218,846 contracts, which exceeded the previous record of 216,626 contracts set in February 2007. Trading volume and the number of open interest contracts were up significantly in May 2010 both compared to the previous month and to May 2009.

NGX electricity and crude volumes were up slightly in May 2010 compared to last month. Year-to-date electricity volume was up 33.1% in 2010 compared to this time last year.
