TMX Group – Consolidated Trading Statistics March 2012 - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Montreal Exchange, Natural Gas Exchange

TMX Group Inc. today announced March 2012 trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange (MX) and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX), as well as TMX Select, TMX Group's alternative trading system.

Volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in March 2012 increased 5% from February 2012, though was down 22% compared to March 2011. Transactions were up 9% from the previous month, though fell 5% compared to the same month a year earlier.

TSX Venture Exchange experienced a 10% decline in volume in March 2012 from the previous month, and was down 42% from March 2011. Transactions were up 1% from February 2012, though fell 41% from the same month a year earlier.

Volume on MX increased 22% in March 2012 from February 2012, and was up 8% from March 2011. Open interest contracts at the end of March 2012 were up 5% compared to the end of February 2012, and increased 27% compared to the end of March 2011.

Volume on NGX in March 2012 increased 2% from February 2012, though was down 5% from the same month a year earlier.
