TMX Group Inc. today announced June 2010 consolidated trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).
Highlights
Momentum continued at Montreal Exchange, with both volume and open-interest contracts up significantly on a year-over-year basis. Year-to-date totals showed significant increases, with trading volume up 32.2% and the number of open interest contracts up 25.9%.
At NGX, overall natural gas volume for the month of June 2010 hit a new record high. Crude volumes were also up dramatically in June 2010 compared to both May 2010 and June 2009.
Following a very strong performance in May 2010 – including one day transaction and order processing records – Toronto Stock Exchange trading volume was somewhat lower in June 2010 compared to the previous month as well as compared to the same month last year.
However, on a year- to-date basis, TSX Venture Exchange volume, value and transactions continued to show strong increases.
NGX electricity and crude volumes were up slightly in May 2010 compared to last month. Year-to-date electricity volume was up 33.1% in 2010 compared to this time last year.
