TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics - August 2014: Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange, NGX

TMX Group Limited today announced August 2014 trading statistics for its marketplaces - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and NGX.

Total TMX equities trading volume in August 2014 decreased 7% compared to the previous month, and decreased 11% compared to the same month a year earlier. Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in August 2014 decreased 13% compared to the previous month, and decreased 16% compared to August 2013. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange increased 7% in August 2014 compared to the previous month, but decreased 2% compared to August 2013. Trading volume on TMX Select in August 2014 decreased 26% compared to the previous month, but increased 56% compared to August 2013. Alpha trading volume in August 2014 decreased 5% compared to the previous month, and decreased 17% compared to the same month a year earlier.

In August 2014, volume on MX decreased 2% compared to the previous month, but increased 4% compared to the same month a year earlier. The level of open interest contracts at the end of August 2014 was essentially flat compared to the end of July 2014, and increased 5% compared to the end of August 2013.

Volume on NGX in August 2014 decreased 15% compared to July 2014, and decreased 22% compared to August 2013.
