Tim Breedon Joins The UK’s Financial Reporting Council

Patricia Hewitt, Trade & Industry Secretary today confirmed the appointment of Tim Breedon as a director of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).

Mr Breedon has been appointed for three years. The remuneration is currently 15,000 per year.

Biographical Notes

Tim Breedon is Group (Investments) Director of Legal & General Investment Management Ltd. He is also Director of Mithras Investment Trust PLC, E-Crossnet Limited and Arlington Securities Limited. His career with Legal & General Investment Management Ltd has been since 1987 and his positions included becoming a Director (Index Funds) in 1994 and becoming Managing Director (Index Funds) in 2000.

Background

  1. The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is a unified, independent regulator which: a. Sets, monitors and enforces accounting and auditing standards; b. oversees the regulatory activities of the professional accountancy bodies, and regulates audit; and c. promotes high standards of corporate governance.

    Its aim is to promote confidence in corporate reporting and governance. The FRC incorporates five subsidiary boards: the Accounting Standards Board, the Auditing Practice Board, the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the Accountancy Discipline and Investigation Board and the Professional Oversight Board for Accountancy.

  2. The time commitment of the director's post is for council meetings, directors meetings including audit and remuneration committees and management board meetings plus all the preparation and then routine business around half a day per week.
