Three CBOT Short-term Interest Rate Contracts Set More Records - Three CBOT® Short-term Interest Rate Contracts Set More Records

Concerns about the strength of the US economy and the future course of Federal Reserve policy resulted in three Chicago Board of Trade short-term interest rate contracts setting records in open interest.

On May 27th 30-Day Federal Funds futures closed with open interest at 329,195 contracts. The previous record was set on May 23rd when open interest was reached 328,334 contracts.

The Two-year Note futures set an open interest record of 132,939 contracts also on May 27th. The CBOT began an electronic market maker program on May 1st. Since then average daily electronic volume in the Two Year contract has increased more than 265%.

30-Day Federal Funds options set another open interest record of 373,870 contracts on May 28th. The CBOT launched the Fed Funds options contract on March 14, 2003. It is the fastest growing options contract in the history of the exchange.
