Thomson Reuters Welcomes The European Commission’s Second Market Test

Date 12/07/2012

Thomson Reuters welcomes the decision by the European Commission to move ahead with a formal market test of its revised proposal to extend usage rights of its Reuters Instrument Codes (RICs) in relation to the real-time consolidated feed space.

The revised remedy proposal reflects several months of detailed discussion with the European Commission and Thomson Reuters is pleased to be taking this important step towards resolution of the Commission’s case. The extension of RIC usage rights in relation to real time data in the remedy proposal is in addition to Thomson Reuters recent commercial launch, announced on 25 June, of a new symbology service enabling the use of its RIC symbols across the trade life cycle for trade processing.

The company believes that both these separate initiatives will be beneficial to the market and to its customers. Thomson Reuters does not believe it has violated EU competition law, nor has the European Commission made any finding of infringement against the firm.
