Equities
In September trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 73.47 bn, which represents a year on year increase of 69%. During the month more than 1.6 million bargains were carried out on the market, 67% up on 2004. The accumulated value posted from the beginning of the year was € 637.53 bn. The figure exceeded the volume posted in 2004 and represents the highest annual trading volume ever posted by the Spanish Exchange.
The value of trading on Latibex, the market in Euros for Latin American stocks, came in at € 46.5 million, 43% up on the year. The number of trades on the market increased by 74%. Between January and September the value of trading was € 382 million. This figure is higher than that reached all through 2004 and represents the highest annual volume posted in the history of this market.
The return on the IBEX 35® index was over 8.04% in September, bringing the accumulated return on the index from January to 19,09%. The return on the IBEX 35® with dividends in the same period was 22.05%.The return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP® indices in the first nine months was 40.7% and 47.6% respectively.
The FTSE Latibex Top posted a return of 16.8%, and the accumulated return on the index over the year was 61.7%
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes on the warrants and certificates market in September was € 212 million, 33% up on the same month last year. Over 34,000 trades were executed in this month, 59% up on September 2004.
Futures and options
Trading volume in MEFF Options and Futures in September was 6.189 million contracts, 37% up on the same month last year.
Trading volume was particularly heavy in stock options, posting 1.867 million contracts traded and a 126% increase. Trading in options on the IBEX 35 came in 462,577 contracts (+63%). Trading in IBEX 35 Futures was 423,713 contracts (+29% on the year).
The volume of contracts traded on MEFF in the first nine months of the year was 29.5 million, which represents a 42% increase on the same period last year. It is worth noting the trading posted in single stock futures, at 13.8 million contracts (+56%); IBEX 35 options reached 3.4 million contracts (+58%). Trading in stock options was 7.8 million (+40%).
The value of trading to September on MEFF exceeded that for 2004. By product, the trading volume reached in single stock futures and IBEX 35 Futures also exceeded that posted all through 2004.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in September reached € 88.11 bn, a 65.7 % increase compared to the same period last year. The accumulated value posted from the beginning of the year was € 662.63 bn, 65% up on the year.
New issues on September were 35.8% up on the year at € 29.20 bn. The figure for the first nine months of the year reached € 400.38 bn, 26.1 % up on the last year.
The outstanding balance at the end of September was € 396.436 bn, 45% up on the same period in 2004. Net financing provided through AIAF so far this year has reached € 88.41 bn, 17.6% up on the last year.
SENAF
In September trading volume on the public debt trading platform SENAF was € 16.11 bn, 43.8% up on the previous month.
