The Traded Volume Of The mF Group Reached 159,850 Million Euros In May

  • The trading of Corporate Debt during the first five months exceeds 200,000 million and 50% of the volume registered in the whole of the year 2003
  • The Futures and Options traded up to May reached 14.2 million contracts, with a nominal equivalent of 485 thousand million euros, 25% more than in the same period of last year.
The combined traded volume of the mF Group, which comprises MEFF, AIAF and SENAF, during the month of May reached a volume of 159,850 million euros, bringing the accumulated traded volume between January and May to 849,857 million euros, a very similar figure to the one registered during the same period of 2003. p> The activity of the AIAF Corporate Debt Market ended the month of May with a traded volume of 40,137 million euros and a total volume of new issues admitted to listing of 24,292 million euros, with increases of 38% and 73.3% respectively. In terms of accumulated values, the traded volume in this market has exceeded during the first five months 200,000 million euros, surpassing at the present date 50% of the volume traded in the whole of the year 2003.

Territorial Bonds and Asset Securitisations continue to be the products with the highest growth as regards trading. During the month of May, 3,156 million euros were traded in Bonds, with a growth of 293% in relation to the month of May last year, and 13,368 millions in Securitisation Bonds, a figure more than five times higher than that of the previous year.

The trading of Public Debt registered in SENAF during the month of May amounted to 27,257 million euros, representing an increase of 14.8% in relation to the month of April and bringing the accumulated traded volume to 163,525 million euros.

The volume traded in SENAF during the month of May represents 78% of the total volume of Public Debt traded through Spanish electronic platforms.

The Futures and Options traded in MEFF during the month of May reached the figure of 2,286,950 contracts. Of this total, it is worth emphasising the traded volume of Futures on IBEX 35, with 375,730 contracts and an increase of 31%, and of Mini IBEX Futures, with 106,612 contracts and an increase of 5%, in both cases in relation to the same month of the previous year. P> For the whole of the first five months of 2004, the traded volume accumulated by MEFF in Options and Futures was of 14,177,277 contracts. The nominal equivalent of this figure is 485,214 million euros, with an increase of 25% in relation to the same period of last year. It is important to underline the performance of the Futures on IBEX 35, which have grown 31.3% in relation to the same period of the year 2003, with a total of 1,895,879 contracts traded.
