The Toronto Stock Exchange experienced a system problem today and halted trading in Nortel Networks at 10:02am following an unprecedented number of orders. These orders created delays
in the TSE's ability to match orders in all stocks. The TSE made this decision in order to maintain a fair and orderly market in all listed stocks.
Today's issue relates to the TSE order book processing capacity and is not related to Nortel.
Nortel trading remains available on other markets. The TSE is working closely with the NYSE to ensure a continuous market is provided for this stock.
The TSE will advise when trading in Nortel may resume on the TSE.
