The Spanish Stock Exchange Trades 187 New Warrants Issued By Société Générale

The Spanish stock exchange will tomorrow begin trading 187 new warrants issued by Société Générale. With these new admissions the number of warrants traded on the Spanish stock market up to October is 1,252.

The issue is linked to a wide scope of underlying assets, among which there are commodities as well as domestic and foreign shares and indices.

As for the underlying commodities, 6 warrants have been issued on the Brent’s future contract. Of them, 4 are call warrants and 2 are put, their expiry date being on 11 May 2005.

The 95 warrants issued on domestic shares have the following underlying assets: Altadis, Amadeus, BBVA, Banco Popular, Endesa, Iberdrola, Inditex, Repsol, SCH, Sogecable, Telefónica and Unión Fenosa.

As to the warrants on indices, 22 have been issued on the Ibex-35; they offer a wide scope of strike prices and expiry dates; another 6 have been issued on the Dow Jones industrial Average, 5 on the Nasdaq 100, 5 on the Dow Jones Eurostoxx 50, 6 on the Nikkei 225 and 5 on the Xetra Dax.

As to foreign shares, the 37 warrants issued have the following underlying assets: Alcatel, Arcelor, Cisco Systems, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Google, Microsoft and Nokia. It is worth mentioning the incorporation of Google’s shares as a new underlying asset.

Among the issues there are call and put warrants, with different expiry dates. Apart from the issues made on the Brent, of European style, the rest of warrants are American type, that is, they are exercised automatically on the expiry date.
