Equities
In October trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE increased by 40.6% to €115.02 bn, the highest monthly figure ever posted by the market. The number of trades was 2.3 million, 48.4% up on October 2005 and a monthly record high.
The accumulated value of trading posted from the beginning of the year was € 912.70 bn, 26.9% up on the same period last year. The figure exceeds the previous record high, posted in 2005, by 7.6% The number of trades during the first ten months was over 18 million, 27.7% up on the same period last year and a 7% higher than the annual record high posted in 2005.
The value of trading on Latibex in October came in at € 57 million, 15% up on the year. Between January and October the value of trading was € 617 million, 42.7% on the same period last year. The number of trades grew by over 54%. As for the exchange traded funds segment, the effective trading volume posted in October was € 374 million 18% up on October.
The return on the IBEX 35® index was 6.33% in October, bringing the accumulated return on the index from January to 28.13%. The return on the IBEX 35® with dividends in the same period was 31.65%. The return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP® indices in the first ten months was 30.95% and 342.59% respectively. The accumulated return on the FTSE Latibex Top was 9.87% and that on the FTSE Latibex Brazil was 13%.
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes on the warrants and certificates market in October was € 309 million, 52% up on October. The number of trades amounted to 48,360, representing a 39.5% increase on the same period last year.
The accumulated figure to October was € 2.41 bn, 26.7% up on the same period last year and 9% more than the record high posted in 2005. The accumulated number of trades grew by 33% on the same period last year to 393,087. The figure is 11% up on the record high posted in 2005.
Futures and options
Trading volume in MEFF Options and Futures in October was 3.2 million contracts, 47% up on the same period last year It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in Mini IBEX Options, at 663,382 contracts, 70% up on the same month 2005. Also important was the trading in stock Futures, at 577,859 contracts and a 52% year on year increase. The value of trading in MEFF’s flagship product, the Ibex 35 Future, was 593,929 contracts, 31% up on the year. The value of trading to October on MEFF was 37.7 million contracts, 19% up on the same period 2005.
Corporate Debt
The value of corporate debt trading on AIAF in October hit a record high at € 98.09 bn, 35.9% on the same month last year. The figure for the first 10 months of the year is € 734.81 bn.
New issues admitted to trading on the Corporate Debt market in October amounted to € 42.86 bn, 18.4% up on October 2005, leaving an accumulated volume of new issues to October at € 415.10 bn The outstanding balance at the end of October was € 555.16 bn, 36% up on last year. At the end of October net financing provided for the private sector reached € 112.74 bn.
SENAF
In October trading volume on the public debt trading platform SENAF was € 12 bn, which represents a market share of 67.9% in the total trading volume posted by all domestic electronic trading platforms.
