The equity trading volume on the Spanish Stock Exchange in the first seven months totalled €446.63 billion, down 24.2% from the same period in 2011. The trading volume in July reached €71 billion, 13.6% up on the previous month and 32% down on the same month in 2011.
The number of trades in the first seven months came in at 28.7 million, up 4.3% from the same period in 2011. The number of trades in July reached 4 million, down 4.5% from the same period last year.
As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in the first seven months came in at €1.2 billion, down 36% year on year. The trading volume in this segment in July came in at €206 million, down 10% from the previous month and up 38.7% from July 2011. The number of trades in ETFs in the first seven months was 34,166, up 33.3% year on year. The number of trades in July reached 6,313, up 78.7% year on year.
Futures and Options
In the first seven months trading on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 41.1 million contracts, up 3.8% from the same period last year. In July the trading volume reached 4.2 million contracts, up 3.8% on the previous year.
Though there was an increase on trading in all products, there was a pick-up in trading in July in on Options on IBEX 35, at 404,512 contracts in July (+99%).
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants and certificates admitted to trading in 2012 totaled 4,462. Trading on this market in the first seven months totaled €496 million, down 44.8% from the same period in 2011. The trading volume in July came in at €60.1million, down 7.5% from June.
The number of trades in the first seven months in this market totaled 128,346, down 25.7% year on year. The number of trades in July reached 16,071, down 8.4% from the previous month.
Corporate Debt
Trading on BME’s Corporate Debt market in the first seven months reached €1.4 trillion, down 74% from the same period last year. Trading In July reached €166.78 billion, down 57.5% year on year.
New issues in the first seven months reached €255.23 billion, up 69% year on year. In July, new admissions totaled €42.69 billion, more than a three-fold increase on the trading volume for July 2011 (+257%).
The outstanding balance at the end of July came in at €909.78 billion, up 7.6% year on year.
