The Spanish Stock Exchange Traded €67.75 Billion In January

Equities

The equity trading volume on the Spanish Stock Exchange in January was €67.75 billion, up 18.5% from the previous month and down 3.2% from the same month a year earlier.

The number of trades in January reached 3.3 million, up 55.8% from the previous month and down 14.5% from the same month a year earlier.

As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in January came in at €264 million, up 70% from the previous month and up 38% from the same month a year earlier. In January the number of ETF trades reached 3,990, up 40% from the previous month and up 42% from the same month a year earlier.

Futures and Options

In January trading on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 4.8 million contracts, down 13.4% from a year earlier.

Trading in the Options on Indices segment in January was 403,697 contracts, almost 4 times as high as the figure posted for the same month in 2012.

Warrants and Certificates

The number of warrants admitted to trading in January was 1,149. Activity on the market in January reached €62.7 million, up 40% from January 2012 and down 28.3% from the same month in 2012.

The number of trades in January in this market was 14,809, up 23.2% from a month earlier and down 25% from January 2012.

Corporate Debt

The trading volume on the Corporate Debt market in January came in at €153.41 billion, down 61% year on year.

New issues in January reached €11.39 billion, down 61.3% from the same period a year earlier.

The outstanding balance at the end of January was €866.59 billion, down 1.1% from a year earlier.

In January trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic platform reached €3.95 billion, down 17.4% year on year although the number of trades was up 12.5% from a year earlier.
