Equities
In the first half of 2010 trading in Equities on the Spanish Stock market amounted to €527.92 bn, which represents a 25.3% rise year on year. The trading volume in June was €80.54 bn, down 6.5% on the same period last year.
The number of trades in the first half totalled 20.88 million, up 38.1% year on year. In June the number of trades came in at 3.72 million, up 42.5% from the same period the previous year.
The trading volume on the ETF segment in June was up 53% on the same month of 2009, at €750 million. The trading volume to the end of June was €4.39 bn, up 188% from the same period a year earlier.
The number of trades on the ETF segment in June came in at 6,762, up 83% from the same month in 2009. In the first six months of the year the number of trades totalled 40,343, up by 85% year on year.
Futures and Options
In June, the trading volume on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 7.6 million contracts, the highest figure posted in the first half of 2010. The trading volume to the end of June totalled 34.2 million contracts.
Trading in Stock Derivatives picked up in June. The traded volume in Options on stocks reached 3.8 million contracts and Stock Futures trading came in at 2.4 million contracts. The two figures represent record highs in the first six months of 2010.
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants admitted to trading between January and June was 4,215.
The trading volume in June on the warrants and certificates market came in at €155 million, down 3% from the same month the previous year. The number of trades was 34,848, up 18% year on year.
Trading in this segment to the end of June totalled €849 million, down 14.6% from the same period in 2009 and the number of trades reached 198,676, up 1.8% from the same period a year earlier.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in June decreased by 3% year on year to €253.02 bn.The trading volume in the first half totalled €1.29 trillion.
New issues in June came in at €17.40 bn, up 43.3% year on year. Trading in covered bonds and securitisation picked up in comparison with April and May, which totalled €8.85 bn worth of new issues, in line with developments that have taken place on the European Corporate Debt markets in the last few weeks.
In June trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic trading platform reached €27.68 bn, up 139% year on year. The trading volume in the first half totalled €118.96 bn.
