The Spanish Stock Exchange Traded €104.59 Billion In July, Up 6.4% Year On Year - Monthly Trading Statements For BME Markets

Equities

In July trading in Equities on the Spanish Stock market amounted to €104.59 bn, which represents a 6.4% rise year on year. The trading volume to the end of July was €589.48bn, down 5.8% on the same period last year.

The number of trades in July totalled 4.2 million, up 37% year on year. In the first seven months came in at 27.6 million, up 15% from the same period the previous year.

The trading volume in the ETF segment to July was €1.98 bn. The trading volume in July was €336 million, up 17.6% from the same period a year earlier.

The number of trades in the ETF segment to the end of July came in at 25,624, down 42% from the same month in 2010. In July the number of trades reached 3,533.

Futures and Options

In July, the trading volume on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 3.2 million contracts while the trading volume to the end of July totalled 39.6 million contracts, up 2% from the same period in 2010.

Trading in equity options in July came in at 990.970 contracts, up 4% from the same period a year earlier while trading in this product for the seven first months of the year totalled 33.2 million contracts, up 8.4% from the same period in 2010.

Warrants and Certificates

The number of warrants issued in 2011 totalled was 5,166.

The volume to the end of July on this segment came in at €899 million, down 8.8% from 2010.Trading volume during July came in at €133.4 million, down 2% from same period in 2010.

Corporate Debt

Corporate Debt trading in July reached €392.75 bn, up 61.9% from the same period a year earlier.

New issues in July came in at €11.97 bn, down 55% year on year, still in line with the low activity levels seen on the international corporate debt markets. The outstanding balance reached €844.97 bn, down 0.2% year on year.

In July trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic trading platform reached €5.7 bn, down 77.5% year on year.
