New investment flows channelled through the Spanish stock exchange in 2007 reached $ 119.73bn, only behind NYSE in the world ranking, according to data from the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).
New investment flows channelled through the market include capital raising transactions and new flotations on the market. In 2007 there were ten IPOs on the Spanish stock exchange and the volume of capital raising operations exceeded €59.15bn, the second biggest volume recorded in the last decade, after that posted in 2000.
In Europe the Spanish stock exchange was the second biggest in terms of IPOs, having recorded € 10.08bn in 2007, only behind the London Stock Exchange, according to the IPO Watch 2007 report by PriceWaterHouseCoopers, which was published recently. The Spanish stock market channelled the second and third biggest IPOs in Europe in 2007: Iberdrola Renovables, which raised € 4.07bn and Criteria Caixa Corp, with € 3.45bn.
