The Spanish Exchange Turnover Reached €78.30bn In October, On 4 Million Trades

Equities

The trading volume in the Spanish Stock Exchange was €797.34bn to the end of October, down 6.3% on the same period last year. The number of trades up to October came in at 39.7 million, up 21.9% from the same period a year earlier.

The number of trades totalled 4 million in October, up 22.1% from the same period in 2010. The Equities trading volume was €78.30bn in October, down 27.3% on the same month a year earlier.

The trading volume on the ETF segment reached €538 million in October, up 40.9% from the same period in 2010. In October the number of trades reached 3,192, up 1.5% on the same period last year.

The turnover on this segment came in at €3bn from January to October. The number of trades reached 37,394.

Futures and Options

In October trading on BME’s Derivatives Market, MEFF, came in at 3.2 million contracts. The number of contracts traded in the first ten months of the year was 53.7 million, down 2% from the same period a year earlier.

We must highlight Futures on Stocks turnover In October, reaching 642,294 contracts, while the figure for the first ten months totalled 22.3 million contracts, up 52.2% from the same period in 2010.

Warrants and Certificates

The number of warrants admitted to trading to the end of October was 7,892. The trading volume in October on this market came in at €137.6 million, 11.8% up from the same period last year. The volume to the end of October came in at €1.41bn, up 2.5% from 2010.

In the first ten months the number of trades came in at 257,532, down 12.5% from the same month a year earlier while the figure for October totalled 27,500 trades, up 22.9% from October 2010.

Corporate Debt

Corporate Debt trading in October was €463.75bn, up 17% from the same period a year ago. The trading volume in the first ten months of the year reached €4.7 trillion, up 81.4% from the same period a year earlier.

New issues on BME’s Corporate Debt Market, AIAF, totalled €35.49bn in October, up 98% year on year and the highest monthly volume reached in 2011. The accumulated figure to the end of October reached €211.07bn, up 9.3% from the same period a year earlier. The outstanding balance at the end of October was €860bn, up 0.6% on the same period last year.

In October trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic platform reached €5bn.
