The Spanish Exchange today began trading 135 warrants issued by Société Générale, bringing the total number of warrants listed on the market so far this year to 4,016, up 62% from a year earlier. The new warrants are linked to different types of underlying assets.
As regards Spanish shares, 57 warrants were issued on BBVA, Banco Santander, Enagás, Iberdrola, Repsol Ypf, Telecinco and Telefónica.
In connection with foreign shares, 20 warrants were issued on Apple, Deutsche Telekom, EADS, France Telecom, Intel, Nokia, Pfizer, Siemens, Vallourec and Yahoo.
As for indices, 49 warrants were issued on the IBEX 35® with a wide range of strike prices, 2 on the international Solex and 5 on the Dax Xetra.
Turning to commodities, 2 warrants were issued on the Brent oil future contract, with expiration date in December 2008 and which incorporate the current prices of the underlying assets.
Among the issues are call and put warrants, with expiration dates in September, November and December 2008 and January, February and March 2009. All the warrants are American style and can be exercised at any time, except those on the Brent oil future contract, which are European style and are exercised on the expiration date.
