The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity option volume in November increased 28.15% when 26,941,072 contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 21,022,937 contracts traded. Equity option volume in November increased 1.63% compared to the previous month when 26,510,197 contracts traded. Volume year-to-date was up 72.21% compared to the previous year.
The Exchange garnered 16 % equity options market share in November making it the third largest market center in the U.S. for options for the 13th month in a row. PHLX market share without ex-dividend volume was 13.19%.
Sectors index options volume in November decreased 18.23% when 484,637 contracts traded compared to the previous month when 592,661 contracts traded. Volume in sectors index options in November declined 15.18% compared to same year-ago period when 571,387 contracts traded.
Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options for November totaled 11,066 contracts, an increase of 17.16% compared to the previous month when 9,445 contracts traded. Volume in November increased 14.21% compared to the same year-ago period when 9,689 contracts traded.
Equity volume for November increased 59.63% when 64,103,615 shares traded compared the previous month when 40,157,499 shares traded. Equity volume for November decreased 31.18% compared to the same year-ago period when 88,488,204 shares traded.
