The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that 46,028,641 equity option contracts traded in June, an increase of 40.63% compared to the same year-ago period when 32,731,306 contracts traded. Equity option volume in June rose 5.60% compared to last month when 43,587,646 contracts traded.
Market share for equity options in June was 16.44%, down from 17.65% from the previous month. The average daily volume for equity options in June was 2,191,840 contracts.
Volume on the six World Currency Options (WCOs) rose 868.36% in June when 246,726 contracts traded compared to 22,837 contracts traded during the same year-ago period. Volume increased 11.57% compared to the previous month when 221,144 contracts traded.
Index options volume for June decreased 23.20% when 428,298 contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 557,674 contracts traded. Volume in index options in June increased 3.39% compared to the previous month when 414,242 contracts traded.
Equity volume for June increased 17.93% when 164,210,382 shares traded compared to the same year-ago period when 139,243,825 shares traded. Equity volume for June rose 19.13% compared to the previous month when 137,846,952 shares traded.
