Market share for equity options in February was 14.48% when 24,124,606 contracts traded. PHLX market share in February without ex-dividend volume was 12.59 % when 20,975,150 contracts traded.
Volume on two newly traded World Currency Options (WCOs) reached 13,049 contracts compared to 9,746 contracts traded in January. The World Currency Options on the British Pound (XDB) traded 6,913 contracts while the World Currency Option on the Euro (XDE) reached a total volume of 6,136 contracts.
Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options for February totaled 11,827 contracts, an increase of 27.02% compared to the previous month when 9,311 contracts traded. Volume in February was up 14.36% compared to the same year-ago period when 10,342 contracts traded.
Sectors index options volume for February declined 9.45% when 443,989 contracts traded compared to the previous month when 490,340 contracts traded. Volume in sectors index options in February declined 35.03% compared to same year-ago period when 683,411 contracts traded
Equity volume for February decreased 18.05% when 97,396,887shares traded compared the previous month when 118,848,098 shares traded. Equity volume for February increased 49.36% compared to the same year-ago period when 65,209,717 shares traded.
