The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Announces April Volume

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that 41,422,367 equity option contracts traded in April, an increase of 60.40%, compared to the same year-ago period when 25,824,063 contracts traded. Equity option volume in April rose 6.82% compared to last month when 38,778,747 contracts traded.

Market share for equity options in April was 15.91%. The average daily volume for equity options was 1,882,835 contracts.

Volume on the six World Currency Options (WCOs) rose 1,052.66% in April when 299,108 contracts traded compared to 25,949 contracts traded during the same year-ago period. Volume decreased 42.59% compared to the previous month when 520,993 contracts traded.

Index options volume for April decreased 13.34% when 414,427 contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 478,249 contracts traded. Volume in index options in April increased 8.59% compared to the previous month when 381,654 contracts traded.

Equity volume for April increased 31.99% when 149,317,754 shares traded compared to the same year-ago period when 113,127,019 shares traded. Equity volume for April rose 2.91% compared to the previous month when 145,089,403 shares traded.
