The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that 324,651,203 total options contracts traded in July, which is up 5.81 percent compared to last July when 306,817,994 contracts were traded.
Average daily volume for the month came in at 14,756,873 contracts, up 1.00 percent compared last July’s 14,610,380 contracts. Year-to-date volume stood at 2,436,987,381 contracts, 1.93 percent more than July of last year when 2,390,920,900 contracts were traded.
Equity options volume (options on individual stocks and ETFs) came in at 295,059,480 contracts, up 4.39 percent compared to last July when 282,647,406 contracts were exchanged. Average daily volume for equity options in July came in at 13,411,795 contracts, slightly off of last year’s 13,459,400 contracts by 0.35 percent. Year-to-date equity options volume stood at 2,210,205,854 contracts, which is 0.16 percent more than the 2,206,577,718 contracts traded at the same point last year.
