The Open Interest On The New Futures Contract On the S&P/TSE 60 Index Breaks Through The 100,000 Mark

The futures contract on the S&P/TSE 60 Index (SXF) set a new record yesterday. Open interest on the SXF surpassed the 100,000 mark, reaching 116 486 outstanding contracts for a value of over 12.5 billion dollars by the end of the day, on March 8th. Open interest is the number of outstanding contracts at a specified point in time, i.e. the number of open positions.

The Montreal Exchange launched its futures contract on the S&P/TSE 60 Index (SXF) last September 7th, as well as the options and Long Term LEAPS® Options on the same index. Adding to this range of products, the Montreal Exchange also launched, on February 10th, options on the iUnits? S&P®/TSE® 60 Index Participation Fund (i60 Fund).
