The OM Stockholm Exchange launches new share trading system, SAX2000

Date 12/03/1999

On March 12, the OM Stockholm Exchange brought the new SAX2000 trading system into operation. The project kicked off in 1995, but accelerated in recent months with extensive testing internally and at member companies. "The system has got off to a flying start," reports Carl Johan Högbom, Executive Vice President of the OM Stockholm Exchange "SAX2000 is a technological quantum leap-our objective is to become the leading virtual exchange. The new system means we can substantially improve our prospects of providing the stock market with the best service possible." SAX2000's most obvious advantage is speed; earlier systems have been able to handle 5-10 transactions per second-SAX2000 has the capacity for 2,000. "SAX2000 enables us to act faster and with more flexibility," adds Mr. Högbom "response times are shorter and we will be able to handle far more instrument types." SAX2000 was developed entirely by OM Technology; the system sets a new global performance standard for equity trading solutions and is being marketed globally to large and medium-sized exchanges. OM's alliance partner, the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, is next in line for SAX2000 implementation, with its system due to come on stream this May.
