The National Stock Exchange Of Lithuania Share Turnover Exceeds The Annual Result Of 2003

This year, records in securities trading at the National Stock Exchange of Lithuania (NSEL) have become common. Besides impressive turnovers of the last three months and the overall first quarter of this year as well as a surge in LITIN 10 index, since the beginning of 2004 the NSEL share turnover has outreached the annual share turnover of 2003 (LTL 594 m or Eur 172 m) totalling LTL 598 m (Eur 173.2 m).

Negotiated deals, the bulk of which fell to Rokiskio Suris AB and Utenos Trikotazas AB shares, constituted 41% of the total share turnover. Central market turnover, dominated by shares of Vilniaus Vingis AB, Mazeikiu Nafta AB, and Lietuvos Telekomas AB, constituted 33%, accordingly. Other transactions, which included the tender offer for Vakaru Skirstomieji Tinklai AB shares, accounted for 26% of the total share turnover of this year.

Over the period, prices of six shares went down, whereas 26 shares appreciated by more than 10% each.

The turnover of debt securities in 2004 surpassed LTL 552 m (Eur 160 m) and constituted 41% of the last year's annual turnover.
