The Montreal Exchange Names Luc Bertrand President And Chief Executive Officer

The Governing Committee of the Montreal Exchange has appointed Luc Bertrand as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Formerly Vice-President and Managing Director with the Institutional Sales Group at National Bank Financial, and Chairman of the Governing Committee of the Montreal Exchange, Mr. Bertrand will assume his new functions on March 29th.

A participant in the securities industry for over 21 years, Mr. Bertrand has served on the Governing Committee of the Montreal Exchange since 1992, and has been on its Executive Committee since 1994. He has acted as Chairman of the Governing Committee since 1998.

'Luc Bertrand knows the Montreal Exchange extremely well. He was instrumental in bringing the Canadian exchanges together and steering the agreement which led to the restructuring of the Canadian stock and derivative markets,' said Jacques O. Nadeau, who headed the search committee that proposed Luc Bertrand's candidacy to the Governing Committee.
