The Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) organizes a large-scale event entitled “Initial Public Offering Turkey – Istanbul Summit” at Halic Congress Center on May 6-7, 2010, in cooperation with the Capital Markets Board of Turkey, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, and the Association of Capital Market Institutions of Turkey. With the Istanbul Summit, the ISE aims to bring together the executives of around two thousand companies aspiring to go public as well as parties specialized in each phase of initial public offering. Panels, workshops, one-to-one meetings and exhibition booths will serve to inform the participants and raise awareness about public offerings.
As part of its vision to deepen the capital markets, and to allow companies access the funds they need for growth, the Istanbul Stock Exchange organizes a large-scale event to bring together the executives of companies aspiring to go public with parties specialized in each phase of initial public offering. “Initial Public Offering Turkey – Istanbul Summit” will be held on May 6-7, 2010, with the support of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, within the framework of the cooperation initiative that the ISE has undertaken with the Capital Markets Board of Turkey, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, and the Association of Capital Market Institutions of Turkey.
“Initial Public Offering Turkey – Istanbul Summit” will be held at Halic Congress Center in Sutluce, Istanbul, and will convene the executives of around two thousand companies aspiring to go public, brokerage houses engaged in intermediary activities / initial public offerings, audit companies, legal consultants, domestic and foreign private equity funds intending to explore the investment opportunities in Turkey, institutional investors, sectoral associations, and experts active in initial public offerings.
Huseyin ERKAN, the ISE Chairman & CEO, says “Going public and trading on the ISE is essential for the companies to have continued access to the funds they need for growth and for ensuring sustainability. Numerous Turkish companies fail to make sufficient use of such opportunities because they are not traded on the ISE. I am sure that prominent Turkish companies will become global companies if they have sufficient access to the opportunities offered by the capital markets. We initiated an initial public offering campaign in cooperation with the Capital Markets Board of Turkey, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, and the Association of Capital Market Institutions of Turkey in 2008. Through the Istanbul Summit, we would like to share the significance of initial public offering in detail, with company executives. This is the first time that such a large-scale event is organized in Turkey. I don’t think there are many examples in the world, either. Our objective is to support the growth of our companies, our capital markets, and pave the way to the sustainable growth of the Turkish economy”.
The two-day Summit has an extensive agenda; expert speakers will talk about issues such as “the benefits and costs of IPO”, “new opportunities offered by the Istanbul Stock Exchange for small and medium sized companies”, “institutionalization and growth through IPO for family businesses”, “roadmap for IPO” in various panels. Furthermore, a prominent fund manager will talk about the Turkish capital markets from the perspective of international institutional investors. Company executives will have the opportunity to contact independent audit companies, sectoral associations, and brokerage houses engaged in intermediary activities in initial public offerings at workshops and one-to-one meetings.
