This morning, October 25, 2018, the Israeli Investor Relations Forum (IIRF) was launched at a conference which began with the opening bell ceremony for trading on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE). The Forum was established with sponsorship of BNY Mellon and by the Israeli IR community, the Israeli Association of Publicly traded Companies in cooperation with TASE. Following the ceremony, a session on investor relations took place which was attended by CFOs and heads of investment relations of companies traded on TASE, as well as representatives from IR companies.
Ilan Flato, CEO of the Israeli Association of Publicly Traded Companies, said: “I am calling out from this platform to all public companies – the time has come to start investing in the relationship with the investors. The topic of Investor Relations needs to be taken seriously. Till now, Israeli companies have not invested enough in their relationship with investors; this is now our opportunity to take a quantum leap into the Israeli capital market, with this being a profitable investment that will repay itself through the share return”.
Ittai Ben-Zeev, TASE’s CEO, added: “TASE attributes considerable importance to the field of investor relations and we are delighted with the initiative of the Israeli Association of Publicly Traded Companies in taking up the challenge. The relationship with investors has significant value in enhancing company transparency and veracity, by means of revealing information and making it more accessible to the existing and potential investing public. Over time, the relationship with investors builds trust and commitment toward the company and enables investors to gain a thorough familiarity with the company’s activity. Of the approximately 450 companies traded on TASE, only some 30%, at present, actually conduct investor relations through an IR company or through an internal IR manager. About a year ago, we launched an investor-relations-orientated website for the benefit of the companies and, in recent months, we have launched a new website and application – a digital issuances board for investors and a fees comparison table for the benefit of the general public. We hope that the Forum will bear fruit and that it will assist small and medium companies to operate in this field and to understand the significance of being transparent and having ongoing communications with their investing public”.
