The Global Association of Central Counterparties held its Annual General Meeting 2025 across London and Amsterdam from the 16th to 20th of June.
This year’s CCP Global AGM week began in London with a workshop on stablecoins, distributed ledger technology (DLT), and blockchain, led by Simon Gleeson. This was followed by vendor presentations on IT risk solutions, model validation, and strategic consulting from Zeliade, swissQuant, and Davies, marking the first of the Pitch Sessions organized by CCP Global.
On the 19th of June, the Annual General Meeting itself was held in Amsterdam, featuring updates from the four Working Committees that addressed global efforts around CCP resilience, 24-hour trading, non-bank financial intermediation, and digital currencies, as well as a presentation covering the association’s future plans. During the meeting, members approved audit reports and budgeting, the minutes from our Special General Meeting held on the 21st of November 2024, and other items.
The Amsterdam portion of the week also included meetings and speeches involving key regulators.
A keynote speech was delivered by Olaf Sleijpen from the DNB (link). We were joined by Barry King from the Bank of England, Klaus Löber from ESMA (link), and Stephanie Danker and Nicole Hollmann from BaFin for a series of engaging discussions. Additionally, we were pleased to welcome Commissioner Kristin Johnson from the CFTC, who delivered an insightful address (link). Concluding the week were two internal workshops – one on central bank access and another on margin transparency. During the latter, representatives from SIX and SGX shared their thoughts.
This AGM was the first since the CCP Global Officer changes earlier this year, with Timothy Cuddihy from DTCC as Chair and Ashwini Panse from ICE as Treasurer.
“It was a pleasure to see the members of the Association gathered for this year’s AGM, and an honor to participate for the first time as Chair. The meeting reflected on emerging topics, our recent achievements, and our shared commitment to a clear direction for the future,” said Timothy Cuddihy, Chair of The Global Association of Central Counterparties.
“We are grateful to the regulators who generously shared their time with us, as well as to the members who joined us in London and Amsterdam. It was a delight to engage in these discussions and developments during our AGM 2025. We eagerly anticipate reconvening with our membership in Singapore this December for our Special General Meeting,” said Teo Floor, CEO of The Global Association of Central Counterparties.
