The FIAB (Federación Iberoamericana De Bolsas) Gathers In Barcelona

The Executive Committee of the Federación Iberoamericana de Bolsas (FIAB) gathered today in Barcelona under the Presidency of Joan Hortalá.

The meeting in Barcelona was attended by the Chairmen of the Colombian stock exchange, the Bolsa del Mercado de Valores de Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Bolsa de Comercio de Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Caracas stock exchange (Venezuela), the Panama stock exchange, the Lima stock exchange (Peru), the Guayaquil stock exchange (Ecuador), the Costa Rica stock exchange, as well as the Managing Director of the Bolsa de Santiago (Chile), the CEO of BM&F Bovespa (Brazil) and the Deputy CEO, Corporate Services and Institutional Relations, Bolsa Mexicana de Valores.

The Federación Iberoamericana de Bolsas comprises 20 Latin American stock exchanges as well as the Spanish and Portuguese stock exchanges. Its mission is to foster cooperation among its members in order to promote the development and advancement of their securities markets, cooperate with national and international entities in legislative areas and to promote the integration of the securities markets and the creation of regulations ensuring the efficiency, transparency and security of markets necessary to achieve an adequate level of investor protection.

Joan Hortalá, board member of BME and Chairman of the Barcelona Stock Exchange, has also been the President of the Federación Iberoamericana de Bolsas (FIAB), representing BME, since its appointment during the FIAB’s 38th Ordinary General Meeting, which took place last September in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic).
