Listing

Total number of listed companies on the listed securities market in September 2010 increased to 213 companies as opposed to 212 in the previous month. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex has reached 16 at the end of September 2010.

There was one new listed company on the listed securities market this month, with a capital of US$ 15.8 million (LE 90 million). Moreover, 3 new companies were listed on NIlEX, with a total capital of US$ 12.06 million (LE 68.65 million).

Turnover

Total number of trading days in September 2010 amounted to 20 days with a total value traded of US$ 3,980 million (LE 22,664.13 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,636.66 million (LE 20,708.95 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 69.91%, 30.09% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 339.40 million (LE 1,932.72 million), which represents 8.53% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.94 million (LE 22.45 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to August 2010, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,032.18 million (LE 17,301.90 million), of which shares represented 76.06%, bonds 23.94% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 267.52 million (LE 1,526.48 million) i.e. 8.11% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 3,300.32 million (LE 18,831.98 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 0.63 million (LE 3.60 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 2,279.86 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 442.75 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 1.12 million securities.

During September 2010, 718,455 transactions were concluded with an average of 35,923 trades per day, as opposed to 642,226 transactions and an average of 27,923 trades per day in August 2010.

Indices

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 3.53% increase in September 2010 to reach 6634.27 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 1.89%.

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an 11.97% increase in September 2010 to reach 660.58 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 28.95%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a 9.08% increase in September 2010 to reach 1,077.31 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 23.35%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 3.26% increase in September, to close at 1425.33 points on 30/09/2010 and witnessed a YoY increase of 1.22%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed an 8.72% increase in September, to close at 1069.17 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 3.70%.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks in the listed securities market represented 51.16% of the total value & 64.37% of the total volume of shares traded for the month.

During the month of September, the top five gainers, on the listed securities market, were (in descending order of price change) Arab Gathering Investment (+61%), Misr Oils & Soap (+54%), Universal For Paper and Packaging Materials (Unipack) (+53%), Arab Cotton Ginning (+52%) and National Real Estate Bank for Development (+49%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Ismailia National Food Industries (-32%), Minapharm Pharmaceuticals (-14%), Modern Company for water proofing (Bitumode) (-5%), El Kahera Housing (-5%) and Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) (-4%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares in the listed securities market amounted to US$ 78.65 billion (LE 447.86 billion) as of end of September 2010 compared to US$ 75.50 billion (LE 430.82 billion) in August 2010, representing an increase of 3.96%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 105.55 million (LE 601.05 million) at the end of September 2010.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 951 million (LE 5.4 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 32 billion (LE 181.6 billion) for government bonds at the end of September 2010 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In September 2010, foreign investors participated with 19.54% of the total listed securities market value traded, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 103.55 million (LE 589.65 million).
