Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,843 million (LE 26,490 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 88.55%, 11.45% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 481 million (LE 2,632 million), which represents 9% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to September 2009, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,256 million (LE 23,410 million), of which shares represented 89.27%, bonds 10.73% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 476 million (LE 2,615 million) i.e. 10% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 4,732 million (LE 26,025 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 1,876.88 million securities.
During October 2009, 1,173,342 transactions were concluded with an average of 58,667 trades per day, as opposed to 1,118,510 transactions and an average of 55,926 trades per day in September 2009.
Indices
EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 3.02% increase in October 2009 to reach 6966.25 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 47.71%.
Likewise, EGX 70 price index witnessed a 14.08% decrease in October 2009 to reach 798.8 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 64.32%.
Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a 10.35% decrease in October 2009 to reach 1259.95 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 61.06%.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 2.82% increase in October, to close at 1447.94 points on 29/10/2009, and a 43.35% increase on a YoY basis.
