The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report June 2017

Total number of listed companies on the main market amounted to 222 at the end of June 2017. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex reached 32 at the end of the month.

 

No companies were listed this month.

 

Total number of trading days in June 2017 amounted to 17 days, with a total value traded of US$ 1,094.68 million (LE 19,804.02 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,064.62 million (LE 19,260.18 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 81.22%, 18.78% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 28.57 million (LE 516.84 million), which represents 2.61% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 1.49 million (LE 27.00 million) during the month.

 

This is in comparison to May 2017, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,571.85 million (LE 28,429.71 million), of which shares represented 94.45%, bonds 5.55% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 535.28 million (LE 9,681.43 million), i.e. 25.37% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 2,109.87 million (LE 38,160.8 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.75 million (LE 49.67 million) during the month.

 

Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 4,632.20 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 73.12 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 32.59 million securities.

 

During June 2017, 343,923 transactions were concluded with an average of 20,231 trades per day, as opposed to 595,821 transactions were concluded with an average of 27,083 trades per day, during May 2017.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed an increase of 0.42% in June 2017, to close at 13,395.81 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 92.95%. 

 

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an increase of 13.63% in June 2017, to close at 649.42 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 85.00%.

 

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed an increase of 10.64% in June 2017, to close at 1,509.24 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 102.94%.

 

Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed an increase of 1.54% in June 2017, to close at 12,325.99 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 76.66%.

 

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an increase of 0.28% in June 2017, to close at 2,838.39 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 89.44%.

 

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed an increase of 3.05% in June 2017, to close at 1,943.34 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 100.18%.

 

Furthermore, the EGX50 EWI index witnessed an increase of 1.84% in June 2017, to close at 2,076.25 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 64.78%.

 

From another perspective, Nile index witnessed a decline of -4.38% in June 2017, to close at 510.07 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of -19.24%.

The ten most active stocks in the main market represented 82.99% of total traded shares' volume and 60.57% of total traded shares' value for this month.

During the month of June the top five gainers, in the main market, were (in descending order of price change) Misr Cement (Qena) (47.62%), Belton Financial Holding (41.56%), Misr Chemical Industries (40.85%), Natural Gas & Mining Project (Egypt Gas) (40.40%) and Arab Pharmaceuticals (27.64%).

The top five losers, in the main market, were (in ascending order of price change) Medinet Nasr Housing (-44.09%), Minapharm Pharmaceuticals (-19%), National Housing for Professional Syndicates (-18.95%), Modern Shorouk Printing & Packaging (-10.26%) and El Orouba Securities Brokerage (-9.68%).

Total market capitalization of shares in the main market amounted to US$ 38.00 billion (LE 687.42 billion), as of end of June 2017 compared to US$ 37.37 billion (LE 675.93 billion) in May 2017, representing an increase of 1.70%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 63.15 million (LE 1.14 billion) at the end of June 2017.

In June 2017, foreign investors participated with 32.95% of the value traded of the main market, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 34.81 million (LE 629.78 million).
