The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report June 2010

Listing

Total number of listed companies on the listed securities market in June 2010 decreased to 215 companies as opposed to 219 in the previous month. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex has reached 10 at the end of June 2010.

There was one new listed company this month, with a total capital of US$ 166 million (LE 944 million). Additionally, a new company has been listed on Nilex, with a total capital of US$ 2 million (LE 10 million).

Turnover

Total number of trading days in June 2010 amounted to 22 days with a total value traded of US$ 8,166 million (LE 46,507 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,316 million (LE 24,583 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 74.28%, 25.72% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 3,835 million (LE 21,842 million), which represents 47% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 15 million (LE 83 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to May 2010, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,174.07 million (LE 23,625.23 million), of which shares represented 77.57%, bonds 22.43% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 933.86 million (LE 5,285.68 million) i.e. 18% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 5,107.93 million (LE 28,910.91 million).

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 2,938.4 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 798.18 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 4.94 million securities.

During June 2010, 748,409 transactions were concluded with an average of 34,023 trades per day, as opposed to 930,225 transactions and an average of 42,283 trades per day in May 2010.

Indices

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 7.88% decrease in June 2010 to reach 6033.09 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 5.79%.

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed a 6.81% decrease in June 2010 to reach 527.67 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 15.31%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a 5.87% decrease in June 2010 to reach 908.67 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 9.45%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 7.23% decrease in June, to close at 1303.55 points on 30/06/2010 and witnessed a YoY increase of 10.39%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a 5.44% decrease in June, to close at 932 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 6.03%.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks in the listed securities market represented 62.17% of the total value & 74.37% of the total volume of shares traded for the month.

During the month of June, the top five gainers, on the listed securities market, were (in descending order of price change) Juhayna Food Industries (+313%), Modern Company for Water Proofing (Bitumode) (+143%), Golden Pyramids Plaza (+82%), Tourism Urbanization (+24%) and Egyptian Chemical Industries (Kima) (+23%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Advanced Pharmaceutical Packaging Co. (APP) (-83%), Alexandria Cement (-29%), Orascom Telecom Holding (OT) (-20%), Cairo Medical Tower Laboratory (Alborg Laboratory) (-19%) and El Wadi for Exporting Agricultural Products (-17%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares in the listed securities market amounted to US$ 72.02 billion (LE 410.14 billion) as of end of June 2010 compared to US$ 75.2 billion (LE 425.9 billion) in May 2010, representing a decrease of 3.7%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 71.38 million (LE 406.55 million) at the end of June 2010.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 960 million (LE 5.5 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 28 billion (LE 161 billion) for government bonds at the end of June 2010 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In June 2010, foreign investors participated with 22.29% of the total listed securities market value traded, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 43 million (LE 245 million).
