Total number of trading days in June 2009 amounted to 22 days with total value traded of US$ 10,765 million (LE 60,285 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 10,148 million (LE 56,829 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 91.07%, 8.92% and 0.01%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 617 million (LE 3,456 million), which represents 6% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to May 2009, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 5655.13 million (LE 31,781.84 million), of which shares represented 90.37%, bonds 9.63% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 680.88 million (LE 3826.52 million) i.e. 11% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 6336.01 million (LE 35,608.36 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 4,350.96 million securities.
During June 2009, 1,659,744 transactions were concluded with an average of 75443 trades per day, as opposed to 1,700,268 transactions and an average of 80965 trades per day in May 2009.
Indices
EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 3.77% decrease in June 2009 to reach 5702.87 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 41.97%.
Likewise, EGX 70 price index witnessed a 5.30 % increase in June 2009 to reach 623.05 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 44.34%.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 3.03% decrease in June, to close at 1180.81 points on 30/6/2009, and a 42.07% decrease on a YoY basis.

During the month of June, the top five gainers, on the official EGX market, were (in descending order of price change) Delta for Printing & Packaging (+299%), National Real Estate Bank for Development (+97%), El Nasr Clothes & Textiles (Kabo) (+42%), United Arab Shipping (+40%) and National Housing for Professional Syndicates (+38%).
The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Zahraa Maadi Investment & Development (-37%), El Ahram Co. for Printing and Packing (-28%), National Company for Maize Products (-27%), Memphis Pharmaceuticals (-24%), Egyptian Saudi Finance Bank (-23%).
Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 82.79 billion (LE 463.6 billion) as of end of June 2009 compared to US$ 83.79 billion (LE 470.9) in May 2009, representing a 1.5% decrease.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 619 million (LE 3.5 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 17 billion (LE 95 billion) for government bonds at the end of June 2009 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In June 2009, foreign investors participated with 11.89% of the total market value traded with a net outflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 106 million (LE 595 million).
